Six new open positions at Hokkaido University

Hokkaido University is currently taking applications for six new professor and assistant professor level positions. Four positions are within the Research Faculty of Agriculture, and one position each is within the Graduate School of Dental Medicine and the Hokkaido University Museum.

The Research Faculty of Agriculture, Laboratory of Animal Production is currently seeking an Assistant Professor to conduct general educational subjects, experiments, practical training, and exercise courses on specialized fields in the Laboratory of Animal Production System. The successful applicant will be able to conduct lectures in English and Japanese.

The Research Faculty of Agriculture, Research Group of Bioscience and Chemistry, is currently seeking a Professor in the Laboratory of Plant Nutrition. The successful applicant should have the ability to analyze the subjects of crop productivity, plant metabolism, dynamics of inorganic/organic substances in plant and rhizosphere, plant responses to nutrient deficiency and plant-microbe interactions by using experimental methods of inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry, soil science, biochemistry, and molecular biology. The successful applicant will also have the ability to provide instruction in subjects related to plant nutrition both in English and Japanese.

The Research Faculty of Agriculture, Laboratory of Timber Engineering is currently accepting applications for the role of Professor. The successful applicant will possess an advanced knowledge of physical properties of wood/wood-based materials and their utilization on an industrial scale with excellent research accomplishments and achievements and educational experiences in timber engineering. The successful applicant will also have the ability to provide instruction in related subjects both in English and Japanese.

The Research Faculty of Agriculture, Laboratory of Forest Bioresource Technology is currently accepting applications for the role of professor. The successful applicant will possess an advanced knowledge of forest products and non-timber forest products, their utilization, and further improvement of their performance to create a sustainable society with excellent research accomplishments and achievements and educational experiences in forest bioresource technology. The successful applicant will also have the ability to provide instruction in related subjects both in English and Japanese.

The Graduate School of Dental Medicine is currently seeking a fixed-term, tenure-track Assistant Professor. The successful applicant will have knowledge of vascular biology and molecular pathology, including expertise in the areas of abnormalities of tumor vascular endothelial cells and development of a novel therapy, the mechanism of cancer malignancy and cancer microenvironment, vascular endothelial stem-like cells, blood vessel regeneration, and/or the development of novel treatment for head and neck cancer. The successful applicant will also have the ability to provide instruction in related subjects in English.

The Hokkaido University Museum is currently seeking an Assistant Professor in the Division of Research. The successful candidate will have experience in the biodiversity study of botanical specimens. The successful applicant will also have the ability to conduct lectures and museum activities at the graduate level in English and Japanese.
