Appointment of Interim President

Dr. Masanori Kasahara, Executive Director and Vice President, assumed the position of Interim President as of June 30th, and will perform the duties of the President until a new President is appointed.

Dr. Kasahara’s appointment as Interim President followed the dismissal of President Toyoharu Nawa by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on June 30, 2020. After deliberation of the request submitted by the Hokkaido University Presidential Selection Committee, the Minister dismissed Dr. Nawa in accordance with Japanese laws and regulations.
