University News | October 04, 2022

The 2022 Executive Committee Meeting of International Universities Climate Alliance (IUCA), an international consortium of which Hokkaido University is a member, was held online on September 15th. Approximately 80 representatives from member institutions registered from all over the world.

IUCA is an international consortium launched in April 2020 with the UNSW Sydney in Australia as its secretariat. It aims to provide a wide range of research-based facts on climate science, climate impacts, climate adaptation, climate mitigation, and communication & policy as a reliable global source of information.

The meeting included presentations of activity reports and plans for 2021-2023, proposals from member universities and discussions among participants, as well as activity reports from each regional committee.

As a representative of the Asian Regional Committee, Executive Vice President Yokota gave a presentation on activities of Hokkaido University within IUCA, focusing on the Climate & Cities Conference held in October 2021, where the University hosted one of the sessions.

Through IUCA platform, we expect to continue our activities in the Asian region and other collaborations across the region in the future.
