Five new overseas offices opened

Hokkaido University opened four new liaison offices and an overseas office in Asia during the 2017-2018 academic year. These offices act as a base for prospective students to receive information and assistance about entrance examinations and other matters related to enrollment and life in Japan. They also offer support for former international students through alumni association activities and collaborate with other universities to establish partnerships. Hokkaido University faculty members can also utilize these offices for their research.


The new offices were opened in collaboration with the university’s partner universities. The liaison office in Thailand was established through and is located at Kasetsart University, and similarly for the liaison office in Indonesia (Bogor Agricultural University), the Philippines (University of the Philippines Diliman), and Beijing (University of Chinese Academy of Sciences).


Finally, the China Office in Beijing opened in March 2018 at the Study in Japan Information Center. This overseas office works towards expanding the Hokkaido University’s international network, as the university also has offices in Seoul (Korea), Helsinki (Finland, Europe), and Lusaka (Zambia, Africa).
