Hokkaido University announces the “Hokkaido University’s Statement on the Promotion of Diversity and Inclusion”

On December 1, 2021, President Kiyohiro Houkin released the “Hokkaido University’s Statement on the Promotion of Diversity and Inclusion.” The statement was presented in a press conference, held in Hokkaido University on December 2, 2021.

Creating a diverse and inclusive environment is one of many objectives included in Hokkaido University’s long-term plan in making the University an unparalleled higher education establishment, also aligned with Hokkaido University’s Code of Conduct.


In April 2020, Promotion office of Research environment for Diversity (Ree-D) was reorganized to further enhance campus-wide diversity and inclusion through proactive actions. Starting from November 2021, the promotion office is holding a series of events and campaigns which will be continued until April 2022, including the upcoming Commemorative Lectures for the Enactment of Hokkaido University’s Statement on the Promotion of Diversity and Inclusion.
