Hokkaido University is among Nature Index’s top 150 global research institutes

The Nature Index 2021 Annual Tables was published on May 20, 2021 by Nature, an English scientific journal. The list ranks research institutions and countries based on their number of published articles in 82 high-quality scientific journals, as screened by experts in 2020. In the most recent list, Hokkaido University was globally ranked the 126^th best research institute and the 114^th best academic institute.

In Japan, Hokkaido University sits on the 8^th place of best research institute ranking and on the 7^th of best academic institute ranking. Hokkaido University is also ranked 78^th globally and 8^th nationally for leading institutions in chemistry.
