Hokkaido University is in top 100 of THE Asia University Rankings 2021

Released on June 6, 2021, the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2021 revealed the best higher education institutions across Asia. A total of 551 universities in 30 Asian countries were ranked according to the overall performance score. Compared to the previous year, Hokkaido University received a higher overall score and is placed 98th in the ranking.

Earlier this year, THE World Ranking listed Hokkaido University in the top 501-600th universities globally and 6th best university in Japan. The Asia University Rankings is calculated using the same data as the world rankings, but with different indicator weightings. In the Asia University Rankings 2021, Hokkaido University saw score increases in Research, International Outlook, and Industry Income.

In another separate list, THE Impact Ranking, published by THE in late April, Hokkaido University shared the first place with six other Japanese universities and the 101-200th place globally for their performances and impacts against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
