Join us in welcoming Dr. Ghassan Hage from the University of Melbourne, School of Social and Political Sciences for a talk about racism through theoretical considerations and Australian practices.
Dr. Hage has produced many publications on migrants and multiculturalism, and his book ‘White Nation: Fantasies of White Supremacy in a Multicultural Society’ (2003) was also translated into Japanese.
「留学生30万人計画」以後、各大学で留学生のキャンパスへの適応を促す取り組みが種々行われています。多様な背景や価値観をもった人々が集まれば、当然、そこに葛藤は生じるでしょう。
しかし、今後ますますグローバル化・多文化化する社会においては一方で、多様な他者と向き合う力こそ求められていると言えます。本講演では、移民受け入れ先進国であり、多文化主義を国是とする
オーストラリアを事例として、人種差別とは何か、反人種差別とは何かを考えます。
