On February 17th, Mr. Stéphane-Enric Beaulieu Counsellor/Senior Trade Commissioner for Investment, Energy and Natural Resources at the Embassy of Canada in Japan delivered a special lecture at the Faculty of Engineering. His talk covered not only Canada’s advanced technology scene, but also national finance and economy. After the lecture, students discussed various matters with him for almost thirty minutes.

After that, Vice President Ichiro Uyeda welcomed him at the Office of International Affairs where they talked about use of energy and natural resources in Canada which is the Counsellor’s area of specialty, as well as bilateral exchange between the two countries. They agreed that Japan and Canada share many similarities.

OIA staff introduced HU international programs, such as Nitobe College and the Modern Japanese Studies Program and explained departmental and university wide agreements with Canadian universities and the beginnings of HU as Sapporo Agricultural College.
