This seminar is for international researchers (DC, PD), and will be conducted in English.


Come and join I-HoP’s new program, PhD Lunch Talk, for international DC and PD researchers. We will invite guest speakers from organizations in industry, academia, government, etc. to discuss their careers, life choices, or special topics which may be stimuli for international PhD researchers in Japan. Registration is required because we will provide lunch for all the attendees.


I-HoP is honored to invite Mr. Justin W.Tull, Consul of the United States Consulate General in Sapporo as the speaker of the PhD Lunch Talk on December 9. Mr. Tull holds a BA and MA degree in Public Policy from Brigham Young University and is currently a PhD candidate at Virginia Tech’s Center for Public Administration and Policy. Mr. Tull was a pilot in the U.S. Air Force and worked in both the private sector and city government before he joined the Foreign Service of the United States. He previously served as Consul in Suva, Fiji, a Staff Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for African Affairs, and the Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Conflict and Stabilization Operation at the U.S. Department of State. He will talk about his career, the importance of goal-setting, and will reflect on the turning points in his life.
