The Hokkaido University Museum is set to reopen to the public on Tuesday July 26, 2016, following a major renewal. Doors open at 10 a.m.



In addition to exhibitions featuring specimens and materials that Hokkaido University has collected, stored and conducted research into over the years, the upgraded museum will also showcase the university’s 12 undergraduate schools. Furthermore, a new and innovative “backyard” feature will allow visitors to observe behind-the-scenes activities carried out at the Museum Laboratory.


With a café, museum shop and a multipurpose space, students, teaching staff and local citizens alike can enjoy the museum more than ever.


Opening hours:

10 a.m.–5 p.m. (Fridays 10 a.m.–9 p.m. from June–October)

Closed Mondays and December 28–January 4

• In cases where a national holiday falls on a Monday, the museum will open, but will be closed the following weekday.

• The museum may close temporarily due to Hokkaido University events, etc.
