Tokyo 2020 President Seiko Hashimoto visited Hokkaido University

On Thursday, September 16, Seiko Hashimoto, the President of The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games and a member of the House of Councillors, National Diet of Japan, visited Hokkaido University.


After receiving greetings from the Hokkaido University President Kiyohiro Houkin and other executives, President Hashimoto, accompanied by two other members of the Organizing Committee, expressed her gratitude for the University’s cooperation in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Marathon, which was held in August using Hokkaido University’s Sapporo Campus as part of the course. Afterward, they exchanged opinions on a wide range of topics, including the development of athletes and university’s roles in hosting international competitions in the future.


Although their visit was brief, they had a fruitful discussion on the future of the relationship between sports and universities.
