Toward the Resumption of Proactive Recommendations for HPV vaccination in Japan — Challenges and Goals

Event | March 05, 2022

Finished Mar 05 2022

The global strategy to eliminate cervical cancer envisages a world where cervical cancer is eliminated as a public health problem by 2099. As part of the global elimination strategy, 90% of girls should be vaccinated against HPV by the age of 15yrs before 2030. In June 2013, proactive recommendations for the HPV vaccine in Japan were suspended following reports of adverse events since found to be unrelated to vaccination, but which were extensively covered in the media. Vaccine coverage subsequently dropped to less than 1% and has remained this low to date. Join us as we discuss global efforts in the elimination of cervical cancer and the challenges that face Japan as proactive recommendations for HPV vaccination are set to resume in April 2022.

Participation is open to all interested persons and institutions.
