Japanese Government Funded Scholarships

The Japanese Government funds a number of scholarships through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). There are different categories of this scholarship (Monbukagakusho) which distinguish how one receives the award. “Domestic Selection” is available to those applying for the scholarship after coming Japan, and “University Recommendation” and “Embassy Recommendation” are available to those before they arrive in Japan. The requirements and application periods for these categories differ.

This scholarship is aimed towards self-supporting students who are already enrolled in a university in Japan. For further details, please inquire at the Division of International Students, Institute for International Collaboration.
