Asaichi Markets

These morning markets are held daily from 5am (from 6am during winter) to midday, and are within walking distance from JR Hakodate Station. The market area is huge, spanning four city blocks. Seafood on sale includes various local delicacies such as salmon eggs (ikura) and sea urchin (uni), and many restaurants can be found in the market area, serving up fresh seafood breakfasts, such as uni-ikura domburi. Don’t forget to check out the monster sized hairy crabs.
