Roundtable Meeting with Overseas Alumni and the Executive Committee
On Saturday, September 24, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., the “Round-Table Meeting with Overseas Alumni and the Executive Committee” was held online. Due to the lack of Homecoming Day event specific for overseas alumni, this event was planned and conducted in English. Twenty-two participants from nine countries attended the event.
The event began with an opening address by President Kiyohiro Houkin, followed by an explanation of recent news about the University and its efforts toward the 150th anniversary of its founding by Executive Vice President Junji Yamaguchi, and an explanation of the University’s SDGs initiatives and international strategy, which have received high praise worldwide, by Executive Vice President Atsushi Yokota. The participants then offered words of encouragement to the Executive Committee and commented on the importance of the connections among alumni abroad. Later, the Executive Committee, including Executive Vice President Hiroshi Yoshimi, who was in charge of public relations and the Hokkaido University Ambassador Partners, exchanged opinions with the participants.
It is believed that cooperation between the University and its overseas alumni is important for promoting the internationalization of the University. More events will be planned in the future where overseas alumni and the Executive Committee can exchange opinions.
