Hokkaido University Partner Assoc. Prof. Vladana Vukojević joins seminar on joint collaborations between the Karolinska Institutet and Japan (Nov. 28th, 2018)
Hokkaido University Partner Associate Professor Vladana Vukojević participated in a seminar on Japanese collaborations held at Sweden’s Karolinska Institutet (KI) on November 28th, 2018. In addition to Dr. Vukojević, speakers included KI Dean of Research Professor Anders Gustafsson, Hokkaido University Faculty of Life Science Professor Masataka Kinjo, as well as a group of Japanese and Swedish students and researchers who are carrying out collaborative Japan–Sweden projects. At the end of the event, attendees listened to a speech given by the Japanese Ambassador to Sweden, Mr. Shigeyuki Hiroki.
Dr. Vukojević became a Hokkaido University Partner in February 2017, based on a recommendation from Prof. Kinjo. Their collaborative activities started in 2007. Dr. Vukojević has also been an invited lecturer to the Hokkaido University Summer Institute each year since its creation in 2016. In addition, since 2014 Dr. Vukojević has accepted HU students to KI as part the Learning Satellite agreement, and as such is instrumental in the collaborative activities between HU and Sweden. The title of her presentation at the seminar on the 28th was “Functional Fluorescence Microscopy Imaging (fFMI). HU-KI collaboration on research and education.” Professor Kinjo delivered a poster presentation about the Hokkaido Summer Institute and the Faculty of Life Sciences. Ambassador Shigeyuki discussed the 150-year historical bond between Japan and Sweden.
According to Dr. Vukojević, “The overall impression was very positive. The collaboration between KI and Japanese Universities is regarded to be mutually beneficial and all participants agreed that it should be fostered and expanded in the future.”
