Hokkaido University (HU) and the University of Melbourne (UoM) established a matching fund in March 2022 to support joint research workshops organized by researchers from both universities, and selected 20 workshop proposals for four years. Application Period:

November 5 (Wed), 2025 – February 3 (Tue), 2026 | 15.00 Melbourne Time

Target:

A joint research workshop, which is held at either university between 1 April 2026 and 31 March 2027, and organized by a faculty member or postdoctoral fellow in any field of research.

Notes:

• A co-application must be submitted by a research team with at least one HU researcher and one UoM researcher as PIs.
• Involvement of early-career researchers and doctoral students is highly recommended.
• 1,500,000 JPY or the equivalent will be provided to the sending side, and 500,000 JPY or the equivalent will be provided to the host side of the workshop; UoM researchers will receive financial support only from the UoM Chancellery, and HU researchers will receive only from HU’s Institute for International Collaboration.
• When applying for the Workshops Fund, applicants must submit an endorsement from their affiliated institutions.
