Established in 2016, Hokkaido Summer Institute (HSI) celebrates its 10th anniversary. In the summer of 2026, approximately 150 world-leading researchers from overseas will gather at Hokkaido University to deliver lectures together with our faculty members.

HSI 2026 offers about 150 courses covering a wide range of fields, from introductory to cutting-edge levels. HSI is open to participants from all over the world. Students from other universities are welcome, and many courses are also available for working professionals.

June – October 2026 (Each course runs for approximately one week)

1st Application Period (For All Courses):
March 2 (Mon), 2026, 12:00 JST – March 9 (Mon), 2026, 17:00 JST*

2nd Application Period (For Courses Starting from July):
April 13 (Mon), 2026, 12:00 JST – April 20 (Mon), 2026, 17:00 JST*

*Students and non-students living in Japan may apply for all courses.
*Courses that are full after the first application period will not be available in the second period.

3rd Application Period (For Courses Starting from August or Later):
May 25 (Mon), 2026, 12:00 JST – April 29 (Fri), 2026, 12:00 JST*

*Courses that are full after the first/second application period will not be available in the third period.

Notes

• Detailed information on HSI 2026 will be available in late January 2026, and the first online application will start in March 2026. (See HSI 2026 Website)
• Hokkaido University students do not need to apply online.
  • During the course registration period for each semester or term, simply register for HSI courses in the same way as regular courses.
