Regular Meet-up Events

Various social and cultural events to provide opportunities to meet and interact with people are organized. Some of the regular events organized by the Student Support Division include:

• Language Corner – Approximately once a week
  • Participants will be paired, and have a discussion in Japanese or English. Approximately 15 students usually participate in this event. It is a good opportunity to improve speaking skill in Japanese and English.
• Sawakai (chat over tea) – Once a month approximately
  • A cross-cultural gathering held once a month to provide a space where Japanese and International students can mingle with each other.

Student Clubs

There are approximately 50 cultural clubs and approximately 70 athletic clubs at Hokkaido University. If you wish to know Japan and get better acquainted with Japanese students, participation in club activities will prove to be extremely rewarding. If you want to join a club, ask the club directly.
