IAU-ISAS

The International Association of Universities (IAU), founded in 1950 and an official partner of UNESCO, is a worldwide association of higher education institutions. It brings together 636 institutes from over 120 countries. Hokkaido University has been a member since 1962. In the 2009 fiscal year in collaboration with the IAU, the university established the International Strategy Advisory Service (ISAS) to review the university’s internationalization strategies. In total, the IAU has provided ISAS programs for 16 universities in 9 countries.

What is IAU-ISAS 2.0?

The IAU developed a new version of the ISAS program, the ISAS 2.0 program, that consists of several different but complementary services. Hokkaido University is the world’s first university to work on an improved version of ISAS and establish an ISAS 2.0 program. The program was formed in conjunction with HUCI as a part of the Top Global University Project (MEXT website, in Japanese). See Hokkaido Universal Campus Initiative (HUCI).
