General Japanese Language Courses Second Semester start from October 1st!
Eligibility
- International students enrolled at Hokkaido University with a student visa
- International teaching staff, research staff, and administrative staff who work at Hokkaido University
Application
The application process will change to a two-step system starting in the second semester!
- Japanese Course Registration Authorization
Authorization Period: Fri, Sep. 11 – Mon, Oct. 5
Registration Form - Class Enrollment in Hokkaido University’s Academic Affairs System
Class Enrollment Period: Fri, Sep. 18 – Wed, Oct. 7
Register your classes in the Academic Affairs System using your ELMS ID.
Guide to Course Registration Procedures
*Since faculty and researchers are not enrolled as students, they cannot register for classes in the Academic Affairs System. Class registration will be carried out through a separate procedure. For details, please refer to page 16 of the “JAPANESE LANGUAGE COURSES”
Placement Test Period
Friday, September 11 – Wednesday, September 30
(Students who have taken these Japanese courses at Hokkaido University, or who have never studied Japanese before, do not need to take a placement test)
Course Dates
Thursday, October 1, 2026 – Wednesday, February 3, 2027
(No classes on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays)
