HU-UoM Joint Research Workshops Fund 2024 awardees

Hokkaido University (HU) and the University of Melbourne (UoM) have established a matching fund to support joint research workshops organized by the researchers of both universities in March 2022. The 2024 Workshops Fund awardees are selected by the Joint Research Workshops Fund Selection Meeting Committee as the following:

 

  • Professor Toshiyuki Wakimoto from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, HU and Dr Sacha Pidot from the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, UoM for their workshop scheduled at HU: Strengthening natural product discovery at University of Melbourne and Hokkaido
  • Professor Tatsuya Ishikawa from the Faculty of Engineering, HU and Associate Professor Shiaohuey Chow from the Faculty of Engineering and IT, UoM for their workshop scheduled at HU: Enabling sustainable and resilient infrastructure and energy future for Australia and Japan
  • Professor Katsuhiko Ogasawara from the Faculty of Health Sciences, HU and Dr Mike Conway from the Faculty of Engineering and IT, UoM for their workshop scheduled at HU: Hokkaido University/University of Melbourne Symposium on Advancing Digital Health & Medical AI
  • Professor Taro Yamauchi from the Faculty of Health Sciences, HU and Professor Richard Chenhall from the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, UoM for their workshop scheduled at UoM: Co-creation of Women’s Health: Enhancing Global Menstrual Health and Hygiene
  • Professor Kosei Ueno from the Faculty of Science, HU and Dr Christopher Hall from the Faculty o f Science, UoM for their workshop scheduled at UoM: Smart Materials: Synthesis, Characterisation and Applications

The two universities supported ten workshops in past two years, and the past selection showed huge potential in diverse research collaborations from Philosophy, Build Environment, Nanomaterials, Mechanopharmacology, Livestock Production, Virology, Indigenous Studies to Eurasian Research.  The five selected workshops will certainly expand the horizon.
