HU-UoM Joint Research Workshops Fund 2025

Hokkaido University and The University of Melbourne (UoM) has established a matching fund to support joint research workshops organized by the researchers of both universities in March 2022, selected 15 workshop proposals for the following three years, and recently agreed to extend said Fund up to the FY 2026-27 round.

Application Period:
November 5, 2024 (Tue.) to February 4, 2025 (Tue.) | 15.00 Melbourne time
Target:
A joint research workshop which is held on either of the universities, between 1 April 2025 and 31 March 2026, and organized by a faculty or postdoctoral fellow in any fields of research of the universities

SmartyGrants (research grant application system) on the UoM website
Notes:
– A co-application needs to be made by a research team with at least one HU researcher and one UoM researcher as PIs.
– Involvement of early career researchers and doctoral students is highly recommended.
– 1,500,000 JPY or equivalent to sending side and 500,000 JPY or equivalent to host side of the workshop will be provided; UoM researchers will receive financial support only from the UoM chancellery, and HU researchers will receive only from HU’s Institute for International Collaboration.
– Upon applications for the Workshops Fund with The University of Melbourne, a certain endorsement from the applicants’ affiliations shall be required.
