President Houkin gives a scientific oration at IPB University’s 61st anniversary event

On September 2, 2024, President Kiyohiro Houkin was invited to give a scientific oration at the 61st anniversary celebration of IPB University, one of our partner institutions in Indonesia. During this special occasion, he addressed the audience on the topic of “Society 5.0 and the Future of Higher Education,” emphasizing the role of universities and the significance of industry-academia collaboration.


The event was attended by the Rector of IPB University, Prof. Arif Satria, along with numerous faculty members and students of the University, guests from the Embassy of Japan for Indonesia, other universities and industry partners of IPB. This exchange is expected to further strengthen the relationship between the two universities.

Scientific Oration by President Houkin


Following the scientific oration, President Houkin toured the research facilities at IPB University, including Agribusiness & Technology Park and Science and Techno Park, gaining insights into the latest research equipment. He also visited HU’s Front Office on IPB campus and enjoyed talking with IPB students and staff over tea and Indonesian snacks.

This visit served as an important opportunity to promote deeper collaboration between IPB University and Hokkaido University. Both institutions look forward to working together to contribute to the advancement of education and research.
