Hokkaido University graduates scored the highest impression by employers

For two consecutive years, Hokkaido University is recognized for having produced the most impressive graduates among Japanese universities, in terms of employment. According to a survey in 2021 carried out by Nikkei Inc., and Nikkei Human Resources, one of the largest Japanese media enterprises, Hokkaido University graduates scored the highest overall. Behavioral skill, interpersonal skill, academic skill, and creativity of the employed graduates were measured.

The survey was given to 4,850 listed and unlisted companies who have been hiring fresh graduates of Japanese universities from April 2019 to March 2021.  834 companies’ human resources managers responded by listing the impression of the university’s initiatives and of those newly graduated recruits. This year’s survey also reported an increasing demand for graduates from science and engineering backgrounds.
